Walking a dog is a very therapeutic fun thing to do. If you don’t have a dog for your son to walk just borrow one. You may have a few neighbors who have a dog that you can borrow for a few afternoons a week. If you don’t have a dog, you may consider getting one. Many families have shared with me that adding a pet to the family has helped with gaming overuse.
The unconditional love a pet offers with the non-judgmental companionship helps with self-esteem and stress. Walking a dog provides the additional benefit of socializing your child. Walking a dog will also allow your kids to meet new people, make new friends and talk face to face with other pet owners. It will also allow your child to get some good exercise, fresh air and sunshine.
Replace the controller with a leash and set your child out the door to walk the dog around the block; it will be a great 30 minutes outside!
