I know that this may sound a bit strange but last week when I asked my son where his brother was he said he was dribbling the basketball around the block. What a great idea! They were out shooting hoops in the driveway and he got the idea to head around the block. This is an example of what happens when you send them out to do one thing they usually invent other things to keep them outside longer. But this is also very beneficial because the act of dribbling a basketball is a great physical activity.
Not only do you get the obvious benefits of movement and active physical activity but the repetition of dribbling a basketball is loaded with benefits:
Quick reflexes and reaction.
Cross over midline activity.
Develops concentration and focus.
Trains eye hand coordination.
Mental development and attention control.
WOW! This makes me what to get off my computer and go outside .and dribble the basketball! I’ll see ya later!
